🌊 Flash Flood Warning — Delmarva & Philadelphia Metro

What's Happening: Life threatening flash flooding is already occurring. As of 12:26 AM EDT, law enforcement and emergency management reported numerous stranded vehicles and water rescues in Pennsville Township in Salem County, New Jersey and in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have already fallen, with up to another 0.5 inches possible. Expect life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses.

Locations that may experience flash flooding include Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Mount Laurel, Norristown, Chester, Willingboro, Deptford, West Deptford and Pennsville. Numerous major highways are affected, including I-95 in Delaware (mile markers 9–23), I-295 in NJ (0–47), the NJ Turnpike (exits 1–5), I-476 in PA (0–19), I-95 in PA (0–33), I-76 in PA (329–351), I-676 in PA and NJ, the Pennsylvania Turnpike (330–346), I-76 in NJ (0–3), and the Northeast Extension near mile marker 21.
What To Do:
- Turn around, don't drown when you encounter a flooded road. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
- Do not drive on flooded roads.
- Be especially cautious at night — flooding is much harder to see in the dark.
- Stay aware of your surroundings and move to higher ground if water is rising near you.
- If you are attending Lemon Hill, seek shelter immediately.
