What's Happening: The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Flash Flood Warning. At 4:17 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area, with 1.5 to 3 inches of rain already fallen. Rainfall rates of 1.5 to 3 inches per hour are expected, and an additional 1 to 2 inches is possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Who This Affects:

  • Kent, DE
  • Sussex, DE

Locations that may experience flash flooding include Dover, Milford, Bowers, Big Stone Beach, Dover Base Housing, Rising Sun-Lebanon, Rising Sun, Frederica, Magnolia, Little Creek, Riverview, and Woodside East.

What To Do:

  • Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
  • Expect flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other drainage and low-lying areas.
  • Move to higher ground if you are in a flood-prone area.
  • Do not walk through moving water — even a few inches can knock you off your feet.
