Overview As of 2026-07-10, this Friday main FishCast is built around warm water, a fresh Delaware DNREC report, and missing Maryland DNR and USGS river data this cycle. The Tuesday mid-week update is the follow-up snapshot when the pattern shifts, but for now the strongest signal is a summer mix of surf croaker, inlet stripers, bay-edge flounder, and pocket freshwater bass.

🌊 Atlantic & Surf Confidence: good. DE DNREC reported kings, spot, and croaker from the beach through Old Inlet Bait and Tackle, with bloodworms and FishBites doing the work. The same report noted that skates and dog sharks continue to be a problem, so a patient bottom setup may outfish a more mobile cast-and-retrieve approach on some stretches. No Maryland surf report surfaced this cycle, so the Delaware beach note is the cleanest public guidance for the surf side.

🟦 Delaware Bay Confidence: good. The Delaware Bay section was the most detailed part of the DNREC report this week. Patty at Captain Bones said croaker were caught from the fishing pier at Woodland Beach on bloodworms or FishBites, while Augustine Beach produced white perch on bloodworms or grass shrimp and catfish on cut bait. Steve at Smith Bait in Leipsic reported slot stripers at the Augustine Wall on peeler crab or bloodworms, which makes that stretch worth watching around moving water and structure. Farther out, reef sites and oyster bars are still holding flounder, blues, and croaker; DNREC pointed anglers toward live minnows, bucktails with strips of squid, and Gulp! for flounder, with the rest of the bay fishing reading like a typical warm-weather mix.

🟩 Chesapeake Bay (MD) Confidence: limited reports this week. MD DNR was unavailable this cycle, so there is no clean Maryland-side species read to carry forward. The best timing reference we have is the Annapolis tide set, and anglers should lean on the NOAA marine forecast before running the Bay or planning a nearshore trip. In practice, that means conditions may be fishable, but this week’s report bundle does not give a solid species call for the Chesapeake side.

🟨 Inland Bays Confidence: good. Indian River Inlet carried the clearest inland-water action this week. DE DNREC reported striped bass to 39 inches at night on plugs, bucktails, and soft plastics, while blues are moving through on incoming water and will take metal lures. Tog, sheepshead, and triggerfish are showing near the rocks on sand fleas and green crabs, and flounder are set up in calm water on live minnows or a jig tipped with strips of squid or FishBites. The Indian River Bay portion of the report was partially cut off, but the inlet notes were specific enough to make this a practical zone to fish on nights and tide changes.

🟫 Rivers & Freshwater Confidence: thin. Freshwater reports were localized but useful. DNREC said largemouth bass were caught at Garrison’s Lake, Lum’s Pond, and Lake Como on chatter baits and swim baits, and Steve at Smith Bait reported snakeheads on surface frogs at Garrison’s Lake. No USGS gauges were available this cycle, so there is no discharge or gauge-height cross-check to pair with the fishing reports; in this zone, the strongest read comes from the local bait-and-lure notes rather than river data.
