🌤️ Delmarva Afternoon Update — Tuesday, June 2, 2026
New Beach Hazards Statement just issued for Virginia's Eastern Shore through 8 PM.
What's Changed Since This Morning: NWS Wakefield posted a Beach Hazards Statement at 1:20 PM for Accomack and Northampton counties, joining the Rip Current Statement already in place for the Delaware beaches. Otherwise the afternoon picture is quiet — SPC keeps Delmarva out of any severe weather risk for both Day 1 and Day 2, and high pressure remains firmly in control with sunshine dominating every sampled point.
Current Severe Weather Picture: No organized convective threat across Delmarva today or tomorrow. SPC has zero risk categorical for the region. The only active hazards are coastal — rip currents along the Delaware beaches and beach hazards along Accomack and Northampton through this evening.
Active Watches & Warnings:
- Rip Current Statement — Delaware Beaches, until 8:00 PM EDT
- Beach Hazards Statement — Accomack and Northampton, VA, until 8:00 PM EDT
Through Tonight: Clear and quiet, with light north to northeast winds easing after sunset. Coolest spots near the immediate coast — Ocean City topped out near 66°F, Chincoteague near 65°F — while inland Wilmington touched 77°F and Cambridge 76°F. Expect a chilly, dry overnight under high pressure.
Bottom Line: Beautiful early-June afternoon inland, but stay smart in the surf along the Delaware and Virginia beaches through 8 PM.
