🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Tuesday, June 2, 2026

Heads up at the coast: Rip Current Statement for the Delaware beaches and a Beach Hazards Statement for Accomack and Northampton, both through 8:00 PM tonight.

Today's Weather Story: High pressure is firmly in charge, delivering wall-to-wall sunshine across Delmarva alongside a cool, persistent northeast wind off the Atlantic. That onshore flow is keeping coastal locations noticeably chillier than spots inland, with a 10–14°F spread from Wilmington down to Ocean City. A mid-level disturbance brushes through this afternoon, but with dry air dominating, expect no more than a passing wisp of cloud.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Sunny, high 77°F, N 5 mph
  • Dover, DE: Sunny, high 74°F, N 5–10 mph
  • Georgetown, DE: Sunny, high 72°F, NE 5–10 mph
  • Lewes, DE: Sunny, high 69°F, NE 5–15 mph
  • Cambridge, MD: Sunny, high 74°F, NE 8–12 mph
  • Salisbury, MD: Sunny, high 73°F, NE 8–13 mph
  • Ocean City, MD: Sunny, high 63°F, NE 7–20 mph
  • Chincoteague, VA: Sunny, high 64°F, NE 10–21 mph

Active Weather Alerts:

  • Rip Current Statement — Delaware Beaches, until 8:00 PM EDT tonight
  • Beach Hazards Statement — Accomack and Northampton counties, until 8:00 PM EDT tonight

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has no categorical severe risk over Delmarva today or tomorrow, and WPC has not flagged any Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall concerns. The story today is wind and water at the coast, not thunderstorms — breezy northeast winds with gusts up to 35 mph along the beaches will whip up choppy surf and dangerous rip currents from Lewes south through Chincoteague.

Why This Setup: A passing upper-level disturbance is being undercut by strong surface high pressure, which keeps moisture suppressed and locks in that cool onshore northeast flow. Translation: lots of sun, no rain, but a brisk and chilly day at the shore.

Looking Ahead: High pressure holds through midweek with continued dry weather and below-average temperatures. By late week into the weekend, a much warmer, summer-like pattern builds in, with shower and storm chances potentially returning late weekend or early next week.

Bottom Line: Gorgeous sunshine inland and a great day to be outside — but if you're headed to the beach, bring a jacket and stay out of the surf.
