🥵 Delmarva Weather Update — Saturday, June 6, 2026
Today's Weather Story: Summer arrives early as a warm southwest flow pumps heat across the peninsula, with inland highs pushing into the low 90s under mostly sunny skies. The coastline stays noticeably cooler thanks to a sea breeze off the Atlantic. A cold front lurking to our west will eventually swing through, but most of today stays dry and hot before any storm chances arrive late.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has a Marginal Risk in place for northern Delmarva today, including the Wilmington area, where an evening cold front could spark scattered showers and thunderstorms with isolated strong wind gusts. By Sunday, that Marginal Risk shifts south to cover Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles as the front works through the lower peninsula. WPC does not indicate an excessive rainfall threat for Delmarva today.
Why This Setup: An approaching cold front interacting with hot, southwest-driven air is the trigger — the atmosphere will be primed with heat, and the front provides the lift to fire storms by late day. Dry low-level air ahead of the front is also keeping fire danger elevated to our south.
Looking Ahead: Sunday stays hot with highs again in the low to mid 90s before afternoon and early evening storms sweep through with the front. Briefly cooler, drier air settles in for the start of next week.
Bottom Line: Hydrate, plan outdoor work for the morning, and keep an eye on the radar after dinner — especially north of the C&D Canal.
