🌤️ Delmarva Afternoon Update — Tuesday, June 9, 2026
SPC has placed much of Delmarva under a Marginal Risk for severe storms on Day 2 (Wednesday).
What's Changed Since This Morning: The headline shift this afternoon is SPC's Day 2 outlook, which now carries a Marginal Risk covering Wilmington, Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, Ocean City, and Chincoteague. Day 1 remains quiet with no organized convective threat across the sampled points. The latest AFD from Mount Holly and Wakefield reinforces that dry conditions hold through most of tonight, with the first isolated showers or storms not arriving until around dawn Wednesday.
Current Severe Weather Picture: Today is the calm before a more active stretch. SPC shows no Day 1 risk for our area, but the Marginal Risk arrives Wednesday and storm chances extend through Friday. Heading into the back half of the week, the AFD flags dangerous heat for Thursday and Friday as above-normal temperatures build in.
Active Watches & Warnings:
- No active Delmarva watches or warnings at this time.
Through Tonight: Highs this afternoon settle into the upper 70s to low 80s inland — 83°F in Wilmington, 81°F in Dover and Salisbury, 82°F in Georgetown — while the coast stays cooler with Ocean City at 68°F and Chincoteague at 70°F under a steady south to southeast breeze of 10 to 15 mph. Dry conditions hold through the evening and most of the overnight, with a few isolated showers or storms possible near dawn Wednesday.
Bottom Line: Enjoy a quiet Tuesday evening — Wednesday brings the first round of storm chances and a Marginal severe risk to most of Delmarva.
