⛈️ Delmarva Weather Update — Sunday, June 14, 2026
Heads up: Coastal Flood Advisory for Kent, Inland Sussex, and the Delaware Beaches from 7 PM tonight until 1 AM Monday, and SPC has us under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms.
Today's Weather Story: Hot and humid air surges north ahead of an approaching cold front, setting the stage for scattered severe thunderstorms late this afternoon into the evening. Inland highs climb into the low 90s while a southerly breeze keeps the immediate coast noticeably cooler. The evening high tide cycle will run higher than normal, nudging water into the usual vulnerable spots along the Atlantic beaches and Delaware Bay.

- Dover, DE: Mostly sunny, high 92°F, winds SW 5–10 mph

Active Weather Alerts:
- Coastal Flood Advisory — Kent, Inland Sussex, Delaware Beaches, in effect 7 PM Sunday through 1 AM Monday. Minor tidal flooding expected with the evening high tide.
Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has placed all of Delmarva — from Wilmington and Dover down through Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles — in a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms later today into the evening. Damaging wind gusts will be the primary concern with any stronger cells, and any storm that organizes could produce locally heavy downpours. WPC does not flag a specific excessive rainfall risk for Delmarva today.
Why This Setup: A cold front is approaching from the west into a hot, humid airmass, providing the lift and instability storms need to fire late in the day. Onshore southerly flow is also pushing extra water against the coast, which is why the tide cycle tonight warrants the advisory.
Looking Ahead: The front sweeps through tonight, ushering in a cooler and drier pattern to start the work week. Warmth and humidity build back by Thursday, with another round of strong to severe storms possible.
Bottom Line: Enjoy a hot, mostly sunny Sunday — but keep a weather eye to the sky late afternoon into evening, and expect minor tidal flooding at the coast around the evening high tide.
