🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Thursday, June 25, 2026

Today's Weather Story: A summery ridge has set up over the peninsula, delivering a bright, mostly sunny day with highs clustered in the low-to-mid 80s. A light south to southwest breeze keeps things comfortable inland while pumping cooler air off the Atlantic at the beaches. The pattern is quiet now, but a slow-moving cold front is already on the radar for late Friday into Saturday — today is the calm before that shift.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Mostly sunny, high 86°F, wind S 0–10 mph
  • Dover, DE: Mostly sunny, high 85°F, wind SW 5–10 mph
  • Georgetown, DE: Mostly sunny, high 85°F, wind S 0–10 mph
  • Lewes, DE: Mostly sunny, high 82°F, wind S 5–15 mph
  • Cambridge, MD: Mostly sunny, high 85°F, wind S 3–10 mph
  • Salisbury, MD: Mostly sunny, high 85°F, wind S 2–8 mph
  • Ocean City, MD: Mostly sunny, high 79°F, wind SW 5–13 mph
  • Chincoteague, VA: Mostly sunny, high 79°F, wind S 3–13 mph

Active Weather Alerts: No active Delmarva alerts at this time.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has a General Thunderstorms risk in play for the Wilmington area today — no categorical severe risk, just the standard summer chance of a garden-variety storm bubbling up. For Friday (Day 2), that General Thunderstorms area expands to cover essentially the entire peninsula from Wilmington south to Cape Charles, including Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, Ocean City, and Chincoteague. WPC's excessive rainfall outlook does not flag Delmarva today, and no coastal flood signals are indicated.

Why This Setup: A slow-moving cold front is approaching from the northwest, with an upper-level disturbance and a feed of warmer, more humid air priming the atmosphere for storm chances later this week. Today the front is still far enough away that the ridge wins out.

Looking Ahead: Storm chances climb Friday afternoon and evening as the front edges in, then linger into Saturday with hot, humid conditions before drier air settles in early next week. Heat builds back in midweek, with heat index values potentially nearing 100°F.

Bottom Line: Soak up a near-perfect early summer day — sunshine, light winds, and 80s — because rain and rumbles return tomorrow.
