🌤️ Delmarva Afternoon Update — Friday, July 10, 2026
SPC has nudged the severe threat up: Cape Charles is now inside a Marginal Risk for today, and much of Delmarva has been added to a Marginal Risk for Saturday.
What's Changed Since This Morning: The big shift is on the SPC side. Cape Charles moved from general thunder into a Marginal Risk on Day 1, joining Chincoteague, Salisbury, Ocean City, Lewes, Dover, and Wilmington. For Day 2, Dover, Lewes, Ocean City, and Wilmington have also been upgraded from general thunder to Marginal Risk, meaning Saturday's storm chances now carry a low-end severe threat across the peninsula. No new watches or warnings are up as of this update.
Current Severe Weather Picture: SPC keeps a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) over essentially the entire Delmarva today and again tomorrow. That means isolated strong to severe storms are possible — the main hazards with any organized cell would be gusty winds and downpours. NWS Mount Holly and Wakefield both flag another round of showers and thunderstorms through this evening, with a second round Saturday afternoon.

Through Tonight: Highs today are landing near 88–91°F from Wilmington down through Salisbury and Chincoteague, with west winds around 5–10 mph. Isolated to scattered showers and storms continue this afternoon and evening before activity winds down overnight. Minor tidal flooding is possible this weekend along the coast and Delaware Bay shoreline.
Bottom Line: Keep an eye to the sky through evening — a Marginal severe risk is now in play across Delmarva today and again Saturday.
