🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Monday, July 13, 2026

Heads up: Extreme Heat Watch for New Castle County takes effect Wednesday, and a Coastal Flood Statement covers Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, and Accomack tonight through 5 AM Tuesday.

Today's Weather Story: High pressure owns the region today, delivering wall-to-wall sunshine and a light east breeze off the Atlantic. Highs settle into the low-to-mid 80s inland with cooler readings right along the beaches. Enjoy it — this is the calm before a serious heat build that arrives Tuesday and peaks midweek.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Sunny, high 84°F, wind SE 0–5 mph
  • Dover, DE: Sunny, high 83°F, wind E 0–10 mph
  • Georgetown, DE: Sunny, high 83°F, wind E 0–10 mph
  • Lewes, DE: Mostly Sunny, high 81°F, wind E 5–10 mph
  • Cambridge, MD: Sunny, high 86°F, wind E 5–8 mph
  • Salisbury, MD: Mostly Sunny, high 85°F, wind E 5–9 mph
  • Ocean City, MD: Sunny, high 79°F, wind E 12 mph
  • Chincoteague, VA: Mostly Sunny, high 80°F, wind E 13 mph

Active Weather Alerts:

  • Extreme Heat Watch — New Castle County, in effect Wednesday, 10 AM to 8 PM.
  • Coastal Flood Statement (tidal, minor) — Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, and Accomack counties, tonight 11 PM through Tuesday 5 AM. Expect spotty minor tidal flooding around the late-night high tide.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has no categorical severe risk over Delmarva today or tomorrow. WPC shows no Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall concern — heavy-rain signals in national guidance are focused elsewhere. Storm chances stay off the board through Thursday; the late-week window (Friday into the weekend) is where NWS is flagging a chance for showers and thunderstorms, some potentially severe.

Why This Setup: A dome of high pressure sits overhead with dry, subsiding air, killing shower chances and letting the sun do full work. An approaching cold front and upper-level disturbance later this week will be the trigger for renewed storm chances.

Looking Ahead: Tuesday turns notably hotter as the heat ridge builds in, and Wednesday looks to be the peak — hence the Extreme Heat Watch already up for New Castle. Rain chances stay minimal through Thursday.

Bottom Line: A gorgeous, sun-drenched Monday across Delmarva — get outside now, because midweek heat is coming fast.
