Today's Weather Story: Hot, hazy, and smoky is the theme across Delmarva today. A thick plume of Canadian wildfire smoke is filtering the sun from Wilmington to Chincoteague, and while it may shave a degree or two off highs, temperatures still climb into the mid 90s inland with heat indices near 100 along the I-95 corridor. Rain chances are minimal for most of the peninsula, though an isolated storm can't be ruled out across northern Delaware late.

The rest of Delmarva sits outside any categorical risk. WPC does not flag Delmarva for excessive rainfall today; heavy-rain signals in national guidance are elsewhere.
Why This Setup: An approaching cold front to the northwest combined with a hot, hazy airmass gives just enough instability across the northern zones for a stray storm, while the smoke aloft and dry mid-levels suppress broader convection.
Looking Ahead: Smoke lingers into Friday with heat holding on. The weekend turns active — Saturday into Saturday night looks unsettled with showers, thunderstorms, and the potential for a few strong to severe cells and locally heavy rain.
