Today's Weather Story: A stalled boundary draped across the lower Delmarva is funneling deep tropical moisture northward, and it's putting a sharp north-south split on today's forecast. From Salisbury south to Chincoteague, expect rounds of showers and thunderstorms with locally torrential rainfall. Farther north through Dover and Wilmington, it's a much quieter day — partly sunny, warm, and only a low-end storm chance.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms over the lower Eastern Shore — Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles — while northern Delmarva sits outside the risk area. WPC and NWS Wakefield flag scattered to numerous instances of flash flooding possible later today across portions of the Eastern Shore, tied to torrential rainfall in slow-moving storms. That flooding concern is scoped to the southern half of the region, not the I-95 corridor.
Why This Setup: A stalled frontal boundary combined with a tropical moisture feed and nearby low pressure is parking training storm cells over the lower Delmarva. Northern areas stay on the drier, more stable side of that boundary today.
Looking Ahead: The boundary should begin lifting or washing out overnight, easing the flood threat by Thursday morning, though additional showers remain in the forecast later in the week as more systems approach.
Bottom Line: South of Cambridge, plan around downpours and possible flash flooding — north of there, it's a warm, mostly quiet summer day.
