🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Tuesday, August 4, 2026

Today's Weather Story: Tuesday trends mainly dry across most of Delmarva, with a mix of mostly sunny to partly sunny skies and northeast to east winds. Rain chances remain under 15% from Wilmington through Salisbury, while Chincoteague has the region’s only 20% chance for showers and thunderstorms later in the day. Clouds will be more persistent along the immediate Maryland and Virginia coast, holding temperatures down compared with inland areas.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Mostly sunny, high near 86°F, northeast wind around 5 mph.
  • Dover, DE: Partly sunny, high near 84°F, east wind around 5 mph.
  • Georgetown, DE: Partly sunny, high near 83°F, northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Lewes, DE: Partly sunny, high near 81°F, east wind around 10 mph.
  • Cambridge, MD: Partly sunny, high near 84°F, northeast wind around 8 mph.
  • Salisbury, MD: Partly sunny, high near 84°F, northeast wind around 8 mph.
  • Ocean City, MD: Mostly cloudy, high near 77°F, northeast wind around 13 mph.
  • Chincoteague, VA: Mostly cloudy, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 78°F, northeast wind around 12 mph.

Active Weather Alerts: No active Delmarva alerts at this time.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC places Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles in a General Thunderstorms Risk today. That supports a thunderstorm possibility, especially toward the southern and coastal portions of the region, but the point forecasts show the better chance remains limited to Chincoteague. WPC does not indicate a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk.

Why This Setup: Low pressure south of the area and a weak front lifting north are part of the broader pattern, with an upper-level disturbance also nearby. Despite those ingredients, forecast-point rain chances keep most of Delmarva dry today, while northeast flow favors extra clouds and cooler conditions at the beaches.

Looking Ahead: A warm front is expected to push north through the region tonight through Wednesday. Later in the week, the pattern turns hotter, more humid, and at times stormy.

Bottom Line: Plan on a mostly dry Tuesday with the best chance of a shower or thunderstorm near Chincoteague and the southern Virginia Eastern Shore.
