New this afternoon: Severe Thunderstorm Watches are in effect across much of Delaware and the northern Maryland Eastern Shore through 9:00 PM, while SPC has added Marginal Risk areas for Ocean City today and Dover and Wilmington on Saturday.
What's Changed Since This Morning: SPC Day 1 shifted Ocean City, MD from general thunder to Marginal Risk, while the broader Day 1 outlook now carries a Slight Risk across sampled points including Dover, Lewes, Ocean City, Salisbury, and Wilmington. For Saturday, SPC now peaks at Marginal Risk for Dover and Wilmington. A Heat Advisory was also issued this afternoon for New Castle and Somerset through 8:00 PM Saturday.
Current Severe Weather Picture: A Slight Risk is in place today for parts of Delmarva, including Wilmington, Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, and Ocean City. Severe Thunderstorm Watches cover Kent, New Castle, and Sussex Counties in Delaware, plus Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Cecil Counties in Maryland through 9:00 PM. Saturday carries a Marginal Risk for Dover and Wilmington.

- Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Kent, New Castle, and Sussex Counties, DE, and Caroline, Kent, and Queen Anne’s Counties, MD, until 9:00 PM Friday.
- Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Cecil County, MD, until 9:00 PM Friday.
Through Tonight: Storm chances remain scattered across the northern part of Delmarva, with Wilmington at a 29% chance and Cambridge at 24%. Farther south and along the coast, the forecast is much drier: Salisbury is at 7%, Lewes 6%, and Ocean City and Chincoteague just 2%, with sunny conditions favored. Highs range from 86°F at Ocean City and Chincoteague to 95°F at Lewes.
Bottom Line: Stay alert for storms through 9:00 PM in the watch area, but much of southern Delaware, the lower Eastern Shore, and the beaches remain predominantly sunny and dry.
