🥵 Delmarva Weather Update — Saturday, August 8, 2026
Heat Advisory for New Castle and Somerset counties until 8:00 PM EDT.
Today's Weather Story: A hot, humid Saturday is underway, with sunshine dominating most of Delmarva and highs reaching the lower 90s inland. Rain chances are limited overall: Wilmington and Dover have isolated to scattered shower and thunderstorm possibilities this afternoon, while much of the lower Eastern Shore stays sunny and mostly dry. Southwest winds will add to the heat, with the immediate coast somewhat cooler.

Active Weather Alerts:
- Heat Advisory for New Castle and Somerset counties until 8:00 PM EDT.
Severe Weather Outlook: The SPC has a Marginal Risk for severe thunderstorms across the Wilmington and Dover areas today. Elsewhere, storm chances are smaller, with sunny conditions favored across much of central and southern Delmarva. No Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk is indicated by WPC guidance.
Why This Setup: Southwest flow is bringing warm air across the region while mostly dry air supports plentiful sunshine for many communities. An approaching cold front and upper-level disturbance provide enough lift for isolated to scattered afternoon storms, especially across northern Delaware.
Looking Ahead: Sunday looks largely dry, with humidity expected to improve into Monday. Heat and humidity remain a concern through early next week, with additional daily shower and thunderstorm chances returning afterward.
Bottom Line: Plan for intense afternoon heat and sun, with the best chance for a brief thunderstorm near Wilmington and Dover.
