SPC has upgraded Dover from a Marginal Risk to a Slight Risk today, while Lewes and Salisbury moved from general thunder to Marginal Risk.

What's Changed Since This Morning: The severe-weather focus has sharpened across northern Delaware, with Dover now in a Slight Risk area. SPC also added Marginal Risk coverage for Lewes and Salisbury. Flash Flood Warnings are now active for New Castle, DE, alongside a Severe Thunderstorm Watch covering Kent and New Castle Counties.

Current Severe Weather Picture: SPC’s Day 1 outlook places Dover and Wilmington in a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms; the afternoon update also flags Lewes and Salisbury in the broader severe-weather picture, with Marginal Risk changes noted there. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for Kent and New Castle Counties through 8:00 PM. For Friday, SPC has a Marginal Risk across the southern part of Delmarva, including Ocean City, Salisbury, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles. The immediate flooding concern is confined to New Castle, DE, where Flash Flood Warnings are in effect.

Through Tonight: Rain and thunderstorm chances are highest north: Wilmington has a 72% chance and Dover 56%, while Georgetown is at 24% and Lewes 18%. The Maryland and Virginia Eastern Shore stays largely dry this afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies and only a 5–13% rain chance from Cambridge and Salisbury to Ocean City and Chincoteague.

Bottom Line: Storm and flash-flood concerns are centered on northern Delaware this afternoon and evening, while much of the southern Eastern Shore remains mostly cloudy and mainly dry.
