⛈️ Delmarva Weather Update — Monday, August 31, 2026

Today's Weather Story: Most of Delmarva stays mostly dry today, with isolated showers around northern Delaware and a small afternoon shower or thunderstorm chance farther south and west. Skies trend partly sunny across the Maryland and Virginia Eastern Shore, while temperatures reach the mid-80s to around 90°F. Winds remain light, with an easterly component in Delaware and southwest flow farther south.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Isolated rain showers, high near 85°F, east wind 0 to 5 mph.
  • Dover, DE: Isolated rain showers, high near 86°F, northeast wind 0 to 5 mph.
  • Georgetown, DE: Isolated rain showers, high near 88°F, northeast wind 0 to 5 mph.
  • Lewes, DE: Isolated rain showers, high near 85°F, northeast wind 0 to 5 mph.
  • Cambridge, MD: Partly sunny, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 89°F, west wind around 5 mph.
  • Salisbury, MD: Partly sunny, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 90°F, southwest wind 2 to 6 mph.
  • Ocean City, MD: Partly sunny, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 83°F, south wind 5 to 8 mph.
  • Chincoteague, VA: Mostly sunny, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 86°F, southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Active Weather Alerts: No active Delmarva alerts at this time.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC places Wilmington, Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles in a General Thunderstorms Risk today. That supports the isolated-to-scattered thunderstorm potential, especially south of Delaware, but NWS discussion indicates the risk of hazardous weather is low. WPC has not identified a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk.

Why This Setup: A nearby low-pressure system, stalled boundary, and onshore flow are part of the broader pattern, while enough dry air remains in place to limit shower coverage. The result is a warm day with limited rain rather than widespread wet weather.

Looking Ahead: Heat and humidity build into the middle of the week, accompanied by daily chances for showers and thunderstorms. Shower and storm chances increase later in the week as a cold front approaches.

Bottom Line: Plan for a warm, mostly dry Monday, but keep an eye out for an isolated shower or brief thunderstorm—most notably across the southern Eastern Shore.
