Heat Advisory for New Castle County until 8:00 PM EDT.
Today's Weather Story: Most of Delmarva stays mostly sunny, hot, and largely dry today, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. A small late-day shower or thunderstorm chance is focused on northern Delaware and parts of the Delaware coast, while the lower Eastern Shore is expected to remain drier. Southwest winds stay light, offering little relief from the heat.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC places Wilmington in a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms today. The better storm potential is not reflected equally across Delmarva’s local forecasts: Wilmington has a 25% rain chance, while most other sampled locations are at 20% or lower and lean mostly sunny. WPC does not indicate a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk.
Why This Setup: Southwest flow is pushing warm air into the region while relatively dry air keeps much of Delmarva mostly rain-free. An approaching front and nearby low-pressure pattern may provide enough lift for a few late-day storms, mainly farther north.
Looking Ahead: Unsettled conditions continue Wednesday through Thursday, with potential for severe thunderstorms on both days. SPC’s Day 2 outlook includes a Slight Risk for Wilmington, Dover, Lewes, Ocean City, Salisbury, and Chincoteague.
Bottom Line: Plan for heat and sun across most of Delmarva, while keeping an eye on the sky late today in northern Delaware and near the Delaware beaches.
