🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Saturday, September 12, 2026

Flood Watch for New Castle and Somerset counties begins tonight and continues until 12 PM EDT September 13.

Today's Weather Story: A mostly dry, partly sunny Saturday is ahead for most of Delmarva, with highs clustering near 80°F and an easterly to southeasterly breeze. Morning patchy fog is possible around Dover and Georgetown, while Cambridge has the region’s better—but still scattered—chance for a shower or thunderstorm. Conditions become more unsettled tonight as low pressure and a frontal boundary approach.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Partly sunny, high near 81°F; SE wind 5–10 mph.
  • Dover, DE: Patchy fog, then partly sunny, high near 80°F; E wind 5–10 mph.
  • Georgetown, DE: Patchy fog, then partly sunny, high near 81°F; E wind 5–10 mph.
  • Lewes, DE: Partly sunny, high near 78°F; SE wind 10–15 mph.
  • Cambridge, MD: Slight chance of showers, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, high near 83°F; SE wind 5–9 mph.
  • Salisbury, MD: Partly sunny, then a slight chance of rain showers, high near 82°F; E wind 3–10 mph.
  • Ocean City, MD: Partly sunny, high near 78°F; E wind 9–14 mph.
  • Chincoteague, VA: Partly sunny, high near 80°F; E wind 10–14 mph.

Active Weather Alerts:

  • Flood Watch — New Castle and Somerset counties, from midnight tonight until 12 PM EDT September 13.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC places much of Delmarva in a General Thunderstorms Risk today, including Wilmington, Dover, Lewes, Salisbury, Ocean City, Chincoteague, and Cape Charles; no categorical severe-weather risk is indicated. WPC guidance flags a possible excessive-rainfall/flooding concern for Delmarva, mainly as showers and thunderstorms increase tonight into the next period.

Why This Setup: A warm front and nearby low pressure will lift moisture toward the region, while a stalled boundary helps focus showers and thunderstorms later. The more organized wet-weather setup holds off through much of the daytime period, allowing most locations to stay mostly dry today.

Looking Ahead: Low pressure moves through tonight into Sunday morning, bringing showers and thunderstorms and a localized heavy-rain/flash-flood risk for portions of the region. A cold front follows late Sunday, with mainly dry, seasonable conditions expected Monday through Wednesday.

Bottom Line: Enjoy the mostly dry and comfortably warm Saturday, but plan for wetter, more unsettled conditions arriving tonight.
