🌬️ Delmarva Weather Update — Thursday, September 24, 2026

Coastal Flood Warnings and Advisories, Wind Advisories, High Surf Advisories, and beach hazard alerts are in effect across portions of Delmarva.

Today's Weather Story: Mostly cloudy skies dominate Delmarva today, with highs holding near 68°F and rain chances staying low. Wilmington trends partly sunny and dry, while Ocean City and Chincoteague have a small chance of light rain later. The bigger concern is a persistent northeast wind driving tidal flooding, rough surf, and dangerous beach conditions along the coast.

  • Wilmington, DE: Partly sunny, high 67°F, northeast wind 10 to 15 mph.
  • Dover, DE: Mostly cloudy, high 68°F, northeast wind 15 to 20 mph.
  • Georgetown, DE: Mostly cloudy, high 68°F, northeast wind 20 mph.
  • Lewes, DE: Mostly cloudy, high 68°F, northeast wind 25 to 30 mph.

  • Coastal Flood Advisory: Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Caroline through Friday at 8:00 AM.
  • High Surf Advisory: Accomack and Northampton through Friday at 7:00 AM.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has no categorical severe-weather risk over Delmarva today or Friday. WPC does not indicate a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk; today’s low rain chances keep the focus on coastal and tidal impacts rather than inland flooding from rain.

Why This Setup: A developing low well off the East Coast is maintaining strong onshore flow, pushing water toward the coast and keeping clouds locked in. That northeast flow is also producing the rough surf, rip currents, and repeated tidal flooding concerns.

Looking Ahead: Friday should begin drying out farther west, while gusty winds and rain chances may linger closer to the coast depending on the offshore low’s track. The low strengthens and moves north toward the Mid-Atlantic coast and southern New England this weekend.

Bottom Line: Expect a cool, mostly cloudy, largely dry day inland, but avoid flood-prone coastal areas and treat beach and surf conditions seriously.
