Today's Weather Story: A nor’easter tracking back toward New Jersey will keep a cool, wet, and windy pattern locked in across Delmarva today. Rain showers are likely regionwide, with rain chances running from 60% at Chincoteague to 98% at Dover. Highs only reach the low to mid 60s as northwest winds remain brisk.

  • Wilmington: Rain showers, high near 65°F, north wind 15 mph.
  • Dover: Rain showers, high near 64°F, northwest wind 15 mph.
  • Georgetown: Rain showers, high near 63°F, northwest wind 15 mph.

  • Chincoteague: Rain showers likely, high near 65°F, northwest wind 18 mph.

Active Weather Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Warning: Kent, Inland Sussex, and Delaware Beaches until 2:00 PM; Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset until 8:00 PM; Accomack and Northampton until 12:00 PM.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory: Inland Worcester and Maryland Beaches until 12:00 PM.
  • Wind Advisory: New Castle, Kent, Somerset, Inland Sussex, and Delaware Beaches until 12:00 PM.
  • Rip Current Statement and High Surf Advisory: Delaware Beaches until 8:00 PM.
  • Beach Hazards Statement: Maryland Beaches, Accomack, and Northampton until 8:00 PM.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC has no categorical severe-weather risk over Delmarva today or Monday. WPC has not identified a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk; however, periods of rain will accompany the coastal system.

Why This Setup: The nor’easter is expected to retrograde toward New Jersey today, keeping moisture and persistent northwest flow over the region. That same coastal circulation is driving elevated tides, rough surf, and dangerous rip currents along the Atlantic shoreline.

Looking Ahead: The storm should weaken and slowly depart Monday into Tuesday. Rain may linger on the Eastern Shore today before conditions gradually improve elsewhere.

Bottom Line: Plan for rain, brisk winds, and significant tidal and beach hazards, especially along Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia coastal areas.
