🌤️ Delmarva Afternoon Update — Monday, September 28, 2026

New Coastal Flood Advisories are in effect for parts of Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore, focused on tidal flooding concerns.

What's Changed Since This Morning: Coastal flood concerns remain the main update this afternoon as advisories have been issued for Inland Sussex and the Delaware Beaches, along with Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset counties. There has been no SPC severe-weather upgrade or new organized thunderstorm signal for Delmarva. The nor’easter is slowly departing through tonight, while rain chances remain very low across the region.

Current Severe Weather Picture: SPC lists no organized convective risk across the sampled Delmarva points for Day 1 or Day 2. No severe thunderstorm or tornado risk area is outlined for the region. The weather concern is coastal water levels—not rainfall flooding—with minor tidal flooding possible in the advisory areas.

Active Watches & Warnings:

  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches until Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset counties until 6:00 PM Monday.

Through Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies continue from Wilmington and Dover through Salisbury, Ocean City, and Chincoteague, with Lewes partly sunny at times. Rain chances are only 1–5% across the sampled points, so most of Delmarva stays dry. Highs range from 66°F in Lewes to 70°F in Chincoteague, with northwest winds generally 5 to 10 mph.

Bottom Line: It is a mostly dry, cool afternoon across Delmarva, with the only notable concern being minor tidal flooding in the active coastal advisory areas.
