🌤️ Delmarva Weather Update — Monday, September 28, 2026

Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect for Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches until 2:00 PM EDT; Coastal Flood Advisories continue for parts of the Maryland and Virginia Eastern Shore.

Today's Weather Story: Mostly cloudy skies are the theme across Delmarva today as the nor’easter slowly departs. Rain chances are low, with only Wilmington carrying a small 17% shower chance. Northwest winds will gradually help ease coastal impacts through the day, while temperatures hold in the upper 60s to near 70°F.

Across Delmarva:

  • Wilmington, DE: Slight chance of rain showers early, then mostly cloudy; high 69°F; north wind 5 mph.
  • Dover, DE: Mostly cloudy; high 68°F; northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Georgetown, DE: Mostly cloudy; high 68°F; northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Lewes, DE: Mostly cloudy; high 66°F; northwest wind 10 mph.
  • Cambridge, MD: Mostly cloudy; high 70°F; northwest wind 7 to 10 mph.
  • Salisbury, MD: Mostly cloudy; high 70°F; northwest wind 6 to 9 mph.
  • Ocean City, MD: Mostly cloudy; high 69°F; northwest wind 8 to 12 mph.
  • Chincoteague, VA: Partly sunny; high 70°F; northwest wind 9 to 13 mph.

Active Weather Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Warning for Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches until 2:00 PM EDT.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Inland Worcester until 11:00 AM EDT.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Dorchester, Wicomico, and Somerset until 6:00 PM EDT.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Accomack and Northampton until 2:00 PM EDT.

Severe Weather Outlook: SPC shows no categorical severe-weather risk over Delmarva today. WPC does not indicate a Delmarva-specific excessive rainfall risk; its broader pattern guidance includes a nearby low, an approaching cold front, onshore flow, and tropical moisture, but those rainfall signals are focused elsewhere.

Why This Setup: A departing nor’easter is keeping clouds in place, while northwest winds gradually ease after the morning high-tide cycles. Coastal flooding impacts are tidal, not rainfall-driven, and should continue to lessen through this evening.

Looking Ahead: One to two more rounds of mainly minor tidal flooding remain possible through this evening in affected coastal areas. A warming trend is expected later this week, with dry conditions and highs reaching the mid to upper 80s before a cold front likely crosses Friday into Saturday.

Bottom Line: Expect a mostly cloudy, cool, and largely dry Monday, but plan around tidal coastal flooding in the warned and advised areas.
