🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — 2026-05-25

Small Craft Advisory and widespread dense fog stack the deck against boaters today, with rip currents along the beaches on top of it.

Today on the Water: Small Craft Advisory runs until 6:00 PM EDT for the northern Atlantic coastal waters. Dense Fog Advisories cover Delaware Bay, the Delmarva coast, and inland Maryland through mid-to-late morning. A Rip Current Statement is up at the Delaware and southern NJ beaches until 8:00 PM EDT. Showers and a few thunderstorms work in through the afternoon.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): South winds 10 to 15 kt today, easing to 5 to 10 kt late. Seas 3 to 4 ft, occasionally to 6 ft, with a SE swell at 4 ft @ 7 sec. Patchy fog and showers from late morning through afternoon — visibility will be the bigger problem than wind.

Delaware Bay: Light NE winds around 5 kt this morning, shifting SE in the afternoon. Seas 1 to 2 ft with a SE swell at 2 ft @ 7 sec. Dense fog through 11:00 AM with visibility 1 to 3 nm, plus a chance of morning showers.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: S winds 5 to 10 kt, light chop with an E swell at 2 ft @ 9 sec. Patchy fog early, then showers likely from late morning into the afternoon. Light and variable winds expected to hold through midweek per LWX.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds and seas are right now — south 10 to 15 kt with seas to 6 ft on the Atlantic. Conditions ease through Wednesday; Friday looks calmest with NW 5 kt and waves 1 ft or less.

Marine Alerts:

  • Small Craft Advisory — NJ/Atlantic coastal waters, until 6:00 PM EDT
  • Dense Fog Advisory — Atlantic coastal waters Fenwick to Parramore, until 10:00 AM EDT
  • Dense Fog Advisory — Delaware Bay, until 11:00 AM EDT
  • Dense Fog Advisory — NJ coastal waters, until 11:00 AM EDT
  • Dense Fog Advisory — Prince Georges/Anne Arundel/Montgomery/Howard MD, until 9:00 AM EDT
  • Rip Current Statement — Delaware and southern NJ beaches, until 8:00 PM EDT

Best Window to be Out: Late afternoon on the Bay waters after the fog lifts and before the heavier showers — roughly 1:00 to 4:00 PM — for short, protected runs only.

Worst Window: Tonight on the Atlantic — S 10 to 15 kt, seas to 6 ft, fog, and a chance of thunderstorms.

Bottom Line: Stay in if you're headed offshore; bay boaters can pick a midday window but plan around the fog and showers.
