🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Thursday, June 4, 2026

Light winds and easy seas today, but a building pattern points to rougher water by the weekend and a serious sea state Monday.

Today on the Water: High pressure parks overhead, keeping winds under 10 kt across all zones. Seas run 1-3 ft. Radar is quiet across KLWX, KDOX, and KAKQ — no convective threat right now. A textbook quiet day before the pattern turns.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): N winds 5 kt this morning, shifting E by late morning and SE late in the day. Seas 2-3 ft at 8 seconds — long-period swell, comfortable ride. Open window all day.

Delaware Bay: W winds around 5 kt, veering S by early afternoon and bumping to 5-10 kt late. Seas 1 ft or less. Glass-calm conditions for most of the day.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: NW 5 kt early, turning S in the afternoon. Waves around 1 ft. LWX notes winds may approach SCA criteria Friday afternoon on southerly channeling, so today is the easy day.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Friday night brings S winds 10-15 kt gusting 20 on the Chesapeake. Sunday is the gusty day with SW 10-15 kt gusting 25 and afternoon storms. Monday is the headline: NE 15-20 kt gusting 25, Atlantic seas building to 5-6 ft, occasionally 9 ft.

Marine Alerts:

  • No active marine alerts.

Best Window to be Out: This morning through mid-afternoon across all zones — light winds, low seas, dry sky, and clean radar. If you've been waiting for a day, this is it.

Worst Window: Monday on the Atlantic — NE gales-adjacent winds and 9-ft seas. Stay at the dock.

Bottom Line: Launch today; the water won't look this friendly again for a while.
