🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Saturday, June 6, 2026

Small Craft Advisory in effect for the upper Chesapeake through 8 PM tonight — bumpy conditions across the region with SW winds gusting to 25 kt and seas building to 6 ft offshore.

Today on the Water: Small Craft Advisory active for upper Bay waters until 8 PM EDT. S/SW flow dominates with gusts to 20 kt likely mid to late afternoon. Seas are running their highest of the period offshore tonight. Small boats should stay close to home; bigger hulls can manage but expect a rough ride.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt tonight, seas 3 to 4 ft and occasionally to 6 ft on a short 5-second south swell. Conditions improve dramatically by Sunday night as winds drop to around 5 kt and seas ease to 2 to 3 ft.

Delaware Bay: Breezy and choppy through the afternoon under S/SW flow, then easing late. Best stretch arrives Sunday with NW 5 to 10 kt and seas a foot or less. Watch for a Monday afternoon SE shift bringing gusts to 20 kt and a 2-ft chop.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: Small Craft Advisory governs the upper Bay until 8 PM — S/SW flow with afternoon gusts near 20 kt and a deep-mixing setup per LWX guidance. Lower Bay sees less impact but still sloppy. Calm returns Sunday with W winds at 5 kt and waves under a foot. Monday flips to NE 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt and waves 3 to 4 ft.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds arrive Wednesday night with S 15 to 20 kt gusting 25 kt offshore. Highest seas are tonight at 6 ft, with a secondary peak Monday on the Bay.

Marine Alerts:

  • Small Craft Advisory — upper Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac, Patapsco River and adjacent waters, until 8:00 PM EDT today (NWS Baltimore/Washington).

Best Window to be Out: Sunday daytime — NW 5 to 10 kt and seas a foot or less Bay-side, 2 to 3 ft offshore. The cleanest window of the next several days.

Worst Window: Wednesday night — S 15 to 20 kt gusting 25 with 6-ft seas and a chance of showers.

Bottom Line: Skip today unless you've got the boat and experience for a Small Craft Advisory; wait for Sunday's window.
