🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Saturday, June 13, 2026

Small Craft Advisory and Coastal Flood Advisory are up — plan around them, not through them.

Today on the Water: SCA is in effect on the Chesapeake through 8:30 AM, with advisories continuing on the bays through Sunday night. Coastal Flood Advisory runs until 5 PM for Delaware Beaches, Sussex, Kent, and the Cape May/Atlantic coast. Radar is quiet across Delmarva right now, but showers and thunderstorms work in by Sunday afternoon as southerly winds ramp.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): S winds build to 15-20 kt with gusts to 25 kt by Sunday night, seas climbing to 3-4 ft and occasionally 6 ft. Best stretch out here is Monday night, with SW 5 kt and 2-3 ft seas at a manageable 7-second period.

Delaware Bay: Winds light through the morning, then S 5-10 kt increasing to 15-20 kt with 25 kt gusts Sunday afternoon as seas push to 2-3 ft. Tuesday looks like the reset — NW around 5 kt shifting S in the afternoon, seas a foot or less.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: SCA active through 8:30 AM. LWX flags light and variable winds today, then S turning Sunday with SCA expected late morning through late evening and possible Special Marine Warnings as thunderstorms develop. Calmest window is Monday night: E 5 kt, waves around 1 ft.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds and seas hit Sunday night — S 15-20 kt gusting 25 kt, with Atlantic seas occasionally to 6 ft. Conditions ease through Monday and bottom out Monday night into Tuesday.

Marine Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Advisory — Kent, Inland Sussex, Delaware Beaches, Cumberland, Atlantic, Cape May, Atlantic Coastal Cape May — until 5 PM today.
  • Small Craft Advisory — Chesapeake Bay zones north of Pooles Island through North Beach — until 8:30 AM today, with further SCAs expected on the bays through Sunday night.

Best Window to be Out: Monday night into Tuesday morning — light winds, low seas, no convective threat in the current outlook.

Worst Window: Sunday evening through Sunday night — gusts to 25 kt, seas to 6 ft on the Atlantic, thunderstorms likely.

Bottom Line: If you're going, go early today on the bays after the morning SCA lifts — otherwise sit out Sunday and aim for Monday night.
