🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Sunday, June 14, 2026

Small Craft Advisories blanket Delmarva waters with southerly winds gusting to 30 kt and afternoon thunderstorms in the mix.

Today on the Water: SCAs are up across the Atlantic coastal waters, Delaware Bay, and the entire Chesapeake — most running through this evening, a few into Monday morning. A Coastal Flood Advisory covers Kent, Inland Sussex, and the Delaware Beaches until 5:15 PM. Showers and thunderstorms move through this afternoon and evening. Radar is currently quiet across Delmarva, but that will change as the day heats up.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): South winds build through the day with the SCA in effect until 5 PM. Expect rising seas and gusty conditions ahead of evening storms. Thunderstorms likely late — winds and seas will spike in any cells.

Delaware Bay: S winds 5 to 10 kt early, ramping to 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 30 kt this afternoon. Seas 1 foot or less building to 2 to 3 ft by afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms likely this evening, with the SCA running until 8 PM.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: S winds 5 to 10 kt with gusts to 15 kt early, climbing to 15 to 20 kt and gusts to 25 kt later. Northern bay SCA expires at 11 AM; VA bay zones at 9:30 AM, with fresh advisories likely behind them. Chance of showers and thunderstorms late.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak wind and seas arrive Thursday night on the Atlantic with SW 20 to 25 kt, gusts to 30 kt, and seas 5 to 6 ft occasionally to 9 ft. Lightest conditions return Tuesday with NE 5 kt and 2 ft seas.

Marine Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Advisory (Kent, Inland Sussex, DE Beaches) — until 5:15 PM today
  • Small Craft Advisory (DE/NJ Atlantic coastal waters) — until 5 PM today
  • Small Craft Advisory (Delaware Bay) — until 8 PM today
  • Small Craft Advisory (Northern Chesapeake) — until 11 AM today
  • Small Craft Advisory (VA Chesapeake zones) — until 9:30 AM today

Best Window to be Out: Early morning before 10 AM on the upper Chesapeake or Delaware Bay, before the south wind ramps and storms fire. Be off the water well ahead of afternoon convection.

Worst Window: This afternoon through evening — peak winds, peak seas, and thunderstorm risk.

Bottom Line: Small boats stay tied up today; larger vessels with experienced crews can work the morning but need to be in before the afternoon blow and storms.
