🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Monday, June 15, 2026

Small Craft Advisory across the Chesapeake and Coastal Flood Advisories along the bays and beaches — wait it out this morning.

Today on the Water: SCA is up across most of the Chesapeake through this morning (some zones until 6 PM) behind a cold front. Coastal Flood Advisories run through this afternoon for Delaware beaches, the lower bays, and parts of the Maryland Eastern Shore. NW winds ease through the day, but tide levels and chop will stay elevated into early afternoon.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): Behind the front, expect NW winds easing this afternoon with seas knocking down toward 2 ft tonight. Tuesday is the standout — N 5 to 10 kt shifting SE in the afternoon, seas around 2 ft at 7 seconds. Scattered showers possible later in the period.

Delaware Bay: NW 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt this morning, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts to 20 kt this afternoon. Seas around 2 ft on a short 3-second period — sharp, stacked chop early. Tuesday flattens out to 1 foot or less under N winds 5 to 10 kt becoming S.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: W 15 to 20 kt this morning shifts N late morning, then drops to 10 to 15 kt by early afternoon and 5 to 10 kt late. Gusts to 25 kt early, easing to 15 kt. Waves 3 to 4 ft, occasionally 5 ft, before settling. Wednesday is the calm spot with S 10 kt and 1 ft waves.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds and seas hit Thursday night — SW 15 to 20 kt gusting 30 kt offshore, with seas building 5 to 6 ft, occasionally 9 ft, under a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Marine Alerts:

  • Small Craft Advisory — Northern & Middle Chesapeake (LWX zones), through 6 PM today
  • Small Craft Advisory — Lower Chesapeake (Smith Point to Cape Henry, incl. CBBT), through 11 AM today
  • Coastal Flood Advisory — Delaware Beaches, Inland Sussex, Kent, Cape May zones, through 5 PM today
  • Coastal Flood Advisory — Anne Arundel, through 9 AM today
  • Coastal Flood Statement — Dorchester, Wicomico, Somerset, through 8 AM today

Best Window to be Out: Tuesday daytime — light N winds backing SE, seas 1–2 ft across all three zones. The cleanest day of the period.

Worst Window: Thursday night — SW gusts to 30 kt, seas to 9 ft offshore, with storms in the mix.

Bottom Line: Stay tied up this morning; if you must go, wait until late afternoon when winds and seas relax — but Tuesday is the real launch day.
