🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Tuesday, June 16, 2026
Small Craft Advisory in effect on the upper Chesapeake until 6 AM, but the rest of the day sets up light across Delmarva waters before Thursday's blow.
Today on the Water: SCA active on portions of the Chesapeake (Pooles Island to Drum Point and adjacent waters) until 6 AM. Behind that, winds relax bay-wide and along the coast. The bigger story is downstream — winds and seas build hard Thursday.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): N winds around 10 kt this morning, easing to 5 kt and turning SE this afternoon. Seas around 2 ft on a 7-second S swell. Clean window most of the day with no convective threat.
Delaware Bay: N winds 5 to 10 kt shifting S by afternoon. Seas 1 foot or less. About as easy as the Bay gets in June.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: SCA on the upper and middle Bay zones expires 6 AM. After sunrise, winds slacken and conditions improve through the day. Waves running near 2 ft on mixed short-period chop.
Wind & Seas Outlook: Wednesday stays manageable with SW 10 kt building through the afternoon. Thursday is the peak — S 15-20 kt gusting 30 kt on the coastal waters with 4 to 6 ft seas, and SCA-level conditions likely on the Bay. Showers possible Thursday afternoon.
Marine Alerts:
- Small Craft Advisory — upper/middle Chesapeake Bay zones, until 6 AM EDT today.
Best Window to be Out: Today late morning through mid-afternoon, coast or Bay. Winds under 10 kt, seas 1-2 ft, no radar activity.
Worst Window: Thursday afternoon on the Atlantic side — 30-kt gusts and 4-6 ft seas.
Bottom Line: Launch today if you can — this is the cleanest window before Thursday's southerly blow.
