🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Monday, June 22, 2026

Small Craft Advisories are up across every Delmarva marine zone — today is a stay-in day for most recreational boats.

Today on the Water: SCAs in effect across the Atlantic coastal waters, Delaware Bay, and Chesapeake Bay through tonight into Tuesday. South winds build to 20-25 kt with gusts to 30 kt, and seas offshore climb to 5-6 ft with occasional 9-footers tonight. Showers and thunderstorms work in late, and a Beach Hazards Statement runs through 8 PM for Maryland and Eastern Shore VA beaches.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): South winds 15-25 kt with gusts to 30 kt, easing to SW 10-15 kt with gusts to 20 kt late. Seas 5-6 ft, occasionally 9 ft tonight. Radar shows a strong cell 24 nm NNE of Lewes (55 dBZ, MESO signature) drifting ESE at 2 kt — moving offshore but lightning risk over open water is real. Visibility drops in showers.

Delaware Bay: SE winds 5-10 kt this morning swing S 15-20 kt with gusts to 25 kt this afternoon. Seas building 2-4 ft. Slight chance of showers, with a chance of thunderstorms late afternoon into evening.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: South winds 15-25 kt with gusts to 30 kt tonight, becoming SW 10-15 kt late. Waves 3-4 ft with a short 4-second period — steep and uncomfortable. Showers and thunderstorms likely in the evening.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds and seas hit tonight. Conditions ease through Tuesday, with the calmest window on Wednesday night — SW 5 kt and seas under 2 ft.

Marine Alerts:

  • Small Craft Advisory — Atlantic coastal waters Fenwick Island to Chincoteague, through 4 AM Tuesday
  • Small Craft Advisory — Chincoteague to VA-NC border, through 1 AM Tuesday
  • Small Craft Advisory — Delaware Bay, through midnight tonight
  • Small Craft Advisory — Chesapeake Bay zones, through 6 PM Tuesday
  • Beach Hazards Statement — MD beaches, Accomack, Northampton through 8 PM tonight

Best Window to be Out: Wednesday night — SW 5 kt and seas at or under 1-2 ft. If you must run today, the morning before south winds ramp up is your only shot, and keep it inshore.

Worst Window: Tonight — south gusts to 30 kt, offshore seas to 9 ft, and thunderstorms in the mix.

Bottom Line: Leave the boat on the trailer today; this is a small-craft day across the board, and Wednesday looks like the reset.
