🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Sunday, June 28, 2026
Light winds today but patchy fog and a chance of showers will knock down visibility — and a NE blow with 6-ft seas builds offshore Monday.
Today on the Water: No active marine alerts, but the assessment is small craft advisory conditions thanks to fog and shower chances cutting visibility. Winds stay light, generally E to NE at 5-10 kt across all three zones. Radar is quiet across Delmarva right now — no cells within 50 nm — so the shower threat is model-driven, not actively on the scope.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): NE 5-10 kt today with seas around 2 ft on a short 6-second period. Patchy morning fog and a chance of showers are the main hazards. Conditions ease tonight, then deteriorate Monday as NE builds to 10-15 kt gusting 20 and seas climb to 3-4 ft, occasionally 6 ft.
Delaware Bay: E winds 5-10 kt today with seas around 2 ft. Patchy fog early and a slight chance of showers. Monday looks like the cleanest window — NE around 5 kt early, turning SE in the afternoon, seas 1 foot or less.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: Light and variable winds today with waves under 1 foot to 2 ft. A chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in later — LWX notes Special Marine Warnings could be needed if storms develop. Tonight settles to E 5 kt and glass. Monday brings NE 10-15 kt gusting 20 with 2-3 ft chop.
Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds and seas hit Monday on the Atlantic side — NE gusts to 20 kt, seas to 6 ft. Bays stay manageable through the period.
Marine Alerts:
- No active marine alerts.
Best Window to be Out: Tonight into early Monday morning on the Chesapeake and Delaware Bay — winds 5 kt, waves under a foot, fog clearing after sunset.
Worst Window: Monday daytime on the Atlantic — 3-4 ft seas with 6-ft sets and 20 kt gusts.
Bottom Line: Small boats can work the bays today if you respect the fog and watch for afternoon storms, but plan to be tied up before Monday's NE builds offshore.
