🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Monday, June 29, 2026
NE winds build through the day with gusts to 20 kt on the Bay and a 2-3 ft chop on the coast; fog is the early hazard, with a stronger southerly push due midweek.
Today on the Water: No marine warnings in effect, but conditions are deteriorating, not improving. Patchy fog at sunrise drops visibility to 1-3 nm. NE winds ramp from 5-10 kt with gusts to 15 kt up to 10-15 kt with gusts to 20 kt by afternoon. Seas and waves run 2-3 ft on the coast and Chesapeake.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): NE 5-10 kt early, gusting 15 kt, building to 10-15 kt by afternoon. Seas 2-3 ft on a mixed NE 4-second wind chop and SE 10-second swell — short-period bumpy ride. Watch the fog window early; visibility 1-3 nm.
Delaware Bay: NE 5-10 kt this morning, shifting SE this afternoon. Seas 1-2 ft on an SE 8-second swell — the most manageable water in the region today. Same fog caveat at sunrise.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: NE 5-10 kt with gusts to 15 kt early, increasing to 10-15 kt with gusts to 20 kt. Waves 2-3 ft on a mixed E wind chop and SE 10-second swell. LWX notes winds could brush low-end SCA criteria this evening as they turn southerly.
Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak wind shifts to Wednesday afternoon — S 15-20 kt with gusts to 25 kt. Highest seas also Wednesday at 2-4 ft offshore. Tuesday afternoon sees Delaware Bay gusting to 20 kt.
Marine Alerts:
- No active marine alerts for Delmarva waters. (Inland Special Weather Statements are in effect well west of the coast and do not affect marine zones.)
Best Window to be Out: Late morning into early afternoon today, after the fog burns off and before the NE gusts crank to 20 kt. Delaware Bay is the smoothest pick.
Worst Window: Wednesday afternoon — S gusts to 25 kt and seas building to 4 ft offshore.
Bottom Line: Get out early if you're going, stay inside the Bays if possible, and plan to be back on the trailer before Wednesday's southerly blow.
