Sub-advisory winds today, but fog, showers, and afternoon thunderstorms are the real story on the water.
Today on the Water: No Small Craft Advisory in effect, but conditions warrant caution — patchy morning fog and a chance of showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon across all zones. Gradient winds stay light; the hazard is convection, lightning, and gust fronts if cells fire. Radar is quiet right now Delmarva-wide.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): NE winds 5 to 10 kt, seas 2 to 4 ft with a short-period S swell mixed in. Patchy fog early, then scattered shower and thunderstorm chances build into the afternoon. Morning is the cleanest window before storm chances ramp.
Delaware Bay: NE winds 5 to 10 kt, seas 1 foot or less. Patchy fog early and again late morning — watch visibility on the run out. Chance of showers throughout the day, but no wind or wave issues to speak of.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: E winds 5 to 10 kt tonight with numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms working in, plus patchy fog. Waves stay small. Convection is the concern here, not the breeze.
Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak wind arrives Thursday afternoon with S 10 to 15 kt gusting 20 kt. Peak seas also Thursday on the Atlantic side at 3 to 4 ft on an 8-second SE swell.

- Flood Watch (NWS Wakefield VA) for southern Delmarva/northeast NC counties until midnight tonight. No active marine warnings or advisories.
Best Window to be Out: Mid-morning through early afternoon once fog burns off, roughly 9 AM to 1 PM — get in and get back before afternoon thunderstorm chances peak.
Worst Window: Late afternoon and evening when scattered thunderstorms and gust fronts are most likely.
Bottom Line: Fishable morning on light winds and small seas — just clear the water before afternoon storms build.
