🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Thursday, July 9, 2026

Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Southeast Harford until 7 AM; scattered showers and storms possible today with a building NE swell arriving this weekend.

Today on the Water: Coastal Flood Advisory active for Southeast Harford through 7 AM EDT. Otherwise a summertime pattern with light-to-moderate winds and a chance of showers and thunderstorms — winds and seas will bump up quickly in any storm cell. Radar is quiet across the region at scan time.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): Manageable conditions today with the bigger story arriving this weekend. Sunday brings NE winds building to 15-20 kt with gusts to 25 kt and seas 3-4 ft, occasionally to 6 ft. Best offshore window this period is Saturday night with NE 5-10 kt and seas around 2 ft.

Delaware Bay: S winds 5-10 kt today, shifting SE 10-15 kt with gusts to 20 kt late. Seas 1 ft or less building to around 2 ft this afternoon. A chance of showers and thunderstorms through the day — winds and visibility will deteriorate fast in any cell.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: SE 5-10 kt with gusts to 15 kt this afternoon; waves running SE 2 ft at 3 seconds. Slight chance of showers and storms early, better chance late. NWS Baltimore notes Small Craft Advisory potential stays low through the weekend outside of thunderstorm activity.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak winds Sunday afternoon at NE 15-20 kt with gusts to 25 kt. Peak seas Sunday night at 4-5 ft, occasionally to 7 ft on the Atlantic side.

Marine Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Advisory — Southeast Harford, until 7:00 AM EDT today

Best Window to be Out: Late morning through early afternoon today before the SE gusts and afternoon storm chances ramp up — keep an eye on radar for pop-up cells.

Worst Window: Sunday through Sunday night — highest winds, seas, and gusts of the period.

Bottom Line: It's a workable day on the water with storm dodging required; save any longer offshore runs for Saturday night before Sunday's NE blow arrives.
