Small Craft Advisories up across the Atlantic coastal waters and southern Chesapeake with easterly winds gusting 25 kt and seas building to 7 ft.
Today on the Water: Multiple SCAs are active from Chincoteague south through the VA coast and across the lower Chesapeake into the Potomac and Tangier Sound. Coastal Flood Statements and Advisories are also up for a broad stretch of the lower Bay and Eastern Shore tidal areas. Radar is quiet across Delmarva — no cells within 50 nm — so today's story is wind, seas, and tidal flooding, not storms.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): E winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt, easing to 10 to 15 kt with gusts to 20 kt late. Seas 4 to 5 ft with occasional 7-footers, E at 7 seconds. Rough ride, especially south of the MD/VA line where SCAs run to 5 PM (and midnight for the NC border zone).
Delaware Bay: Data is limited for today's daytime period — no SCA in effect here. Tonight settles to SE 5 to 10 kt shifting SW after midnight, seas 1 ft or less. The Bay is your best in-close option once the sun gets low.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: E winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt, waves 3 to 4 ft and occasionally 5 ft on a 6-second period. SCA on the lower Bay runs through 7 PM; upper Bay SCA lifts at 6 AM. Watch tidal flooding around Annapolis, Calvert, and the lower Eastern Shore through mid-morning.
