Small Craft Advisories are up on Chesapeake Bay waters this morning, while a cluster of strong cells southwest of Salisbury is moving ENE to NE toward the Delmarva coast.
Today on the Water:
Small Craft Advisories remain in effect through 8 AM EDT for upper and middle Chesapeake Bay zones, and through 11 AM EDT for lower Bay, Tangier Sound, and nearby inland waters.
Radar shows six cells 24 to 35 miles southwest of Salisbury, moving ENE to NE; expect showers to work toward the coast and Bay-side waters this morning.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast):
Tonight brings the lighter coastal window: east winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming southeast after midnight, with seas 2 to 3 ft.
Showers are in the forecast at times. The higher-end coastal seas arrive Thursday night at 2 to 4 ft, with south winds 10 to 15 kt and gusts up to 25 kt.
Delaware Bay:
Today, northeast winds 5 to 10 kt become east late, with seas around 2 ft.
Wednesday night turns south at 10 to 15 kt, with seas around 2 ft and a chance of evening showers.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters:
Small Craft Advisory conditions affect portions of the Bay this morning.
Tonight eases to east winds around 5 kt with 1-foot waves. Wednesday builds southeast winds to 10 to 15 kt with afternoon gusts up to 20 kt; showers are likely with a chance of thunderstorms.
Wind & Seas Outlook: The next notable wind push is Wednesday afternoon through Friday as southerly channeling develops. Coastal waters peak Thursday night, with gusts up to 25 kt and seas 2 to 4 ft.
