🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Thursday, August 13, 2026
No active marine alerts today, but showers or thunderstorms are possible on the waters, with the rougher southwest setup building later in the period.
Today on the Water:
Sub-SCA winds are expected today, with an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible over the waters.
Radar shows four cells within 50 miles of Delmarva, including near the Dover and Salisbury corridors, moving W to WNW; that motion is onshore and can worsen conditions near the Bay corridors.
Thunderstorms bring a lightning risk for anyone exposed on the water.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast):
Tonight is the best coastal window: south winds 5 kt, becoming west late, with seas 1 to 2 ft.
Showers are possible during the period. Conditions deteriorate Sun Night with southwest winds 15 to 20 kt, gusts to 25 kt, and seas around 3 ft.
Delaware Bay:
Tonight, northwest winds around 5 kt and seas 1 foot or less provide the smoother Bay window.
Showers become likely Sun Night as southwest winds increase to 15 to 20 kt and seas build to 2 to 3 ft.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters:
Tonight brings southwest winds 5 kt and flat waves.
Saturday has northeast winds 10 kt with gusts to 15 kt and waves around 2 ft; Sun Night turns choppier with southwest winds 15 to 20 kt and gusts to 25 kt, with a chance of showers.
Wind & Seas Outlook:
The peak wind period is Sun Night, with southwest winds 15 to 20 kt and gusts up to 25 kt on the Atlantic and Chesapeake waters.
The highest seas also arrive Sun Night: around 3 ft offshore and 2 to 3 ft in Delaware Bay.
Marine Alerts: No active marine alerts.
Best Window to be Out: Tonight, especially for Delaware Bay and Chesapeake runs, with light winds and the lowest wave action.
Worst Window: Sun Night, when stronger southwest winds, higher seas, and showers make for the least forgiving conditions.
Bottom Line: A manageable day and a favorable tonight window for smaller boats, but keep a close eye on thunderstorms today and plan around the rougher Sun Night turn.
