Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Anne Arundel until 6:00 AM; active showers and strong cells east of Delaware are moving WSW toward the coast.
Today on the Water: The radar signal is the immediate concern: several cells within 50 miles of Delmarva, including strong echoes east of Dover, are tracking WSW toward shore. Expect worsening conditions as they come onshore, with a plain lightning risk for anyone on open water. Showers or thunderstorms remain possible at times. Conditions are hazardous for a casual launch today.
Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): Today-specific wind and sea data are limited, but showers are in the forecast and radar shows active cells approaching the Delaware coast from offshore. The next notably calmer period is Monday: NW winds 5 kt, becoming SW in the afternoon, with seas around 2 ft.
Delaware Bay: Today-specific wind and sea data are limited; approaching cells from east of Dover are moving WSW toward the coast and could affect the lower Bay approaches. Wednesday is the lightest-wind period, with NW winds around 5 kt becoming SE in the afternoon and seas 1 foot or less.
Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: SW winds 10-15 kt become W 5-10 kt late this morning and early this afternoon, then turn NW late this afternoon. Waves run 1-2 ft. Showers remain possible, and the Anne Arundel Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 6:00 AM.
Wind & Seas Outlook: Winds and seas are generally lighter through Tuesday and Wednesday, with the best water conditions Tuesday night through Wednesday. The rougher stretch arrives Thursday into Thursday night: S to SE winds 10-15 kt and Atlantic seas 2-3 ft, with showers possible.
