🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Saturday, September 12, 2026

Showers, building southeast wind tonight, and a rougher northeast push Monday night make this a hazardous stretch for Delmarva waters.

Today on the Water: No active marine alerts, but conditions trend less favorable after dark. Radar is quiescent with no active cells within 50 nm of Delmarva; showers remain in the forecast, with thunderstorms and patchy fog possible tonight on the Chesapeake.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): East winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt are running today, with seas 2 to 3 ft and a slight chance of showers early and late. No clearly favorable offshore window is identified today; the more significant sea build arrives Monday night.

Delaware Bay: Detailed daytime conditions are limited for the Bay zone. Tonight, southeast winds reach 10 to 15 kt with seas around 2 ft. Showers are expected in the evening, becoming more widespread after midnight. The calmer Bay period comes Sunday night with west winds 5 to 10 kt and seas 1 ft or less.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: Detailed daytime conditions are limited for the Chesapeake zone. Tonight brings southeast winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Showers, a chance of thunderstorms, and patchy fog will affect visibility and add a lightning concern for open-water boaters.

Wind & Seas Outlook: The roughest period is Monday night: Atlantic waters build to north winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming northeast 15 to 20 kt after midnight, with gusts up to 25 kt and seas 3 to 4 ft, occasionally 6 ft. Chesapeake waves reach 3 to 4 ft, occasionally 5 ft, while Delaware Bay reaches 2 to 3 ft.

Marine Alerts: No active marine alerts.

Best Window to be Out: Sunday night on Delaware Bay or Chesapeake waters, when winds ease to 5 to 10 kt or less and Bay waves are around 1 ft.

Worst Window: Tonight on the Chesapeake and Monday night across all waters, especially offshore.

Bottom Line: Launches today are manageable offshore but become increasingly questionable tonight, with the most punishing conditions arriving Monday night.
