🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast β€” Friday, September 25, 2026

Storm and Gale Warnings, widespread Small Craft Advisories, and coastal flooding make this a dangerous no-go day across Delmarva waters.

Today on the Water: Storm Warning is up for the Cape May to Fenwick Island coastal waters through Saturday at 6:00 PM, with Gale Warnings covering the rest of the coast, Delaware Bay, and much of Chesapeake Bay. Northerly winds are driving dangerous conditions, with the roughest Atlantic conditions building tonight. Radar is quiescent within 50 nm of Delmarva, but rain and showers remain in the forecast.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes β†’ southern VA coast): Gale Warnings are in effect, with a Storm Warning from Cape May to Fenwick Island. Northerly winds increase to 30 to 40 kt tonight, gusting up to 55 kt. Seas build to 11 to 15 ft tonight, including an east swell around 14 ft at 12 seconds. Rain is possible.

Delaware Bay: Gale Warnings cover both upper and lower bay waters; Small Craft Advisories also remain posted through this evening. Northerly winds reach 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt, with 5 to 7 ft seas tonight. Rain is possible, and the bay will be steep and hazardous.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: Gale Warnings and Small Craft Advisories are active across bay zones. Northerly winds run 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt today, with occasional near-gale gusts possible on wider southern Maryland waters. Wave energy includes east waves of 7 ft at 13 seconds and north waves of 6 ft at 6 seconds. Slight rain chances are confined to early morning and early afternoon.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Peak conditions are today through tonight, led by 30 to 40 kt northerlies and 11 to 15 ft Atlantic seas tonight. The next favorable period is Tuesday, when winds ease to around 5 kt and waters settle.

Marine Alerts:

  • Storm Warning: Cape May to Fenwick Island coastal waters until Saturday at 6:00 PM.
  • Gale Warnings: Atlantic coastal waters, Delaware Bay, and Chesapeake Bay zones through periods ending Saturday or Sunday.
  • Small Craft Advisories: Delaware Bay and Chesapeake Bay zones through this evening or Saturday.
  • Coastal Flood Warnings/Advisories and High Surf Advisories remain active along Delmarva shorelines.

Best Window to be Out: Tuesday, when winds fall to around 5 kt, Atlantic seas are around 3 ft, Delaware Bay seas are 1 ft or less, and Chesapeake Bay waves are around 1 ft.

Worst Window: Tonight, especially offshore, with 30 to 40 kt north winds, gusts to 55 kt, and 11 to 15 ft seas.

Bottom Line: Do not launch todayβ€”conditions are dangerous on the ocean, bay, and exposed Chesapeake waters.
