🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast — Tuesday, September 29, 2026

Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect for Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches until 2:00 PM EDT; water conditions are otherwise light today, with the calmest boating in the Bay corridors.

Today on the Water: The Coastal Flood Advisory is the main concern through 2:00 PM EDT, particularly around Delaware Beaches and low-lying access points. Light northwest to west winds hold through today, with no active radar cells within 50 nm of Delmarva. Showers are in the forecast at times, but radar is currently quiet.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes → southern VA coast): The lightest conditions arrive tonight: southwest winds around 5 kt become west late, with seas around 2 ft. An east 2-ft swell at 9 seconds mixes with a south 1-ft wave at 4 seconds. Tonight is the best Atlantic window in the available forecast.

Delaware Bay: Northwest winds around 5 kt today with seas 1 ft or less make for the smoothest water among the local zones. Best window is today, especially while the light northwest flow holds. Showers remain possible in the broader forecast, though radar is quiet now.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: West winds around 5 kt become northwest this afternoon, with waves around 1 ft. This is the best Bay window today. Winds shift southerly Wednesday, with showers possible at times.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Light winds continue through Wednesday. Southerly winds increase Thursday, when Atlantic seas build to 2 to 4 ft with southwest winds 10 to 15 kt and gusts up to 20 kt. The roughest period is Saturday night offshore, with east winds 15 to 20 kt and seas 3 to 4 ft, occasionally to 6 ft.

Marine Alerts:

  • Coastal Flood Advisory for Inland Sussex and Delaware Beaches until 2:00 PM EDT.

Best Window to be Out: Today on Delaware Bay or Chesapeake Bay, where winds stay near 5 kt and waves remain around 1 ft or less.

Worst Window: Saturday night offshore, with east winds 15 to 20 kt and seas occasionally reaching 6 ft.

Bottom Line: Launches in the Bay look manageable today, but account for coastal flooding near Delaware beach access and avoid planning offshore work for Saturday night.
