🌊 US Weather Warriors MarineCast β€” Wednesday, September 30, 2026

Light winds and manageable seas hold today, but a rougher northerly setup builds toward Saturday.

Today on the Water: No active marine alerts. Coastal waters stay light today, while the Chesapeake can turn briefly gusty from the southeast. Radar is quiet across Delmarva, with no active cells within 50 miles; showers remain in the forecast later in the period. The more hazardous stretch arrives Saturday, especially offshore.

Atlantic Coastal Waters (Lewes β†’ southern VA coast): East winds near 5 kt turn southeast this afternoon, with seas around 2 ft. The best coastal window is today before Saturday’s northerly winds increase. Saturday brings north winds 15 to 20 kt, gusting to 25 kt, with 3 to 4 ft seas occasionally reaching 6 ft and a chance of showers.

Delaware Bay: West winds around 5 kt become south this afternoon, with seas 1 ft or less. Today is the smoothest Bay period. Seas build to around 2 ft after midnight Friday night as winds shift northwest 10 to 15 kt.

Chesapeake Bay & Delmarva-facing Waters: Southeast winds near 5 kt early become light and variable, then return from the southeast with gusts up to 15 kt; waves run 1 to 2 ft. A brief wind increase is possible this evening over the wider middle Bay. Fog or reduced visibility is mentioned in the marine forecast; data is limited for other Delmarva-facing waters.

Wind & Seas Outlook: Thursday offers the lightest overall wind window, with southwest winds near 5 kt and waves less than 1 ft on the Chesapeake. Peak conditions arrive Saturday: north winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts to 25 kt offshore, and Atlantic seas 3 to 4 ft, occasionally 6 ft.

Marine Alerts: No active marine alerts.

Best Window to be Out: Thursday is the best choice, especially Chesapeake Bay waters, with southwest winds near 5 kt and waves less than 1 ft.

Worst Window: Saturdayβ€”avoid offshore runs as north winds, 25-kt gusts, and occasional 6-ft Atlantic seas develop.

Bottom Line: Launch today for generally manageable conditions, but plan around a significantly rougher and hazardous Saturday.
